Save Mt. Diablo

Save Mount Diablo has been preserving lands on and around Mount Diablo and educating the public to the mountain’s natural values since 1971.

We are biologists, conservationists, hikers, bikers, equestrians, bird watchers, and people who just love to look at the mountain.

Contrary to popular belief, not all of Mount Diablo has been preserved. Only about half of its natural lands are preserved on the double-peaked mountain, which is the namesake for the greater 150-mile Diablo Range. The other half of Mt. Diablo, over 60,000 unprotected acres, are privately owned and still threatened by development. That means risking the loss of wildlife corridors, ecosystems, and recreational opportunities. Preserving natural land forever means safeguarding our quality of life, including our air, water, and views.
